Relaxation After Harvest, Size 80x90 cm, oil on canvas

These women were taking a break after a wearying
harvest in the intens heat of the sun . While one had sufficient time
to feed the baby the other woman sits in a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the
breeze in the shade of a tree.
Soedibio succesfully captures the peaceful environment
and serenely mood of these relaxing women, on his canvas.

Dewi Sri the
Goddess of fruit and rice and the symbol of fertility was entrusted
to bless the crops and prevent their destruction by pests, at the
same time also protects the farmers who devotedly took care of their
harvest, each season. Soedibio skillfully depicts on his canvas
this legendary mytological Goddess in his extreme artistical craftmanship
and comprehensive understanding. Dewi Sri is just one sample of
Soedibio's masterpieces, and this can easily be categories as a
valuable example for the younger generation, hopefully inspiring
aspirations in the world of fine arts.

Soedibio created
and presented this painting to his beloved wife in comemoration
to the birth of his son Heru, symbolizing the financial hardship
his wife had to be up against in raising their 2 daughters plus
a newly born son. In this painting Soedibio tried to encourage his
wife as if he was saying:' come on step forward confidently, and
leave that teardrops behind you' . let us try hard and make every
effort, then entrust the future in the hand of God.

In the royal audience hall of Majapahit, Her
Majesty Queen Tribuwana Tunggadewi Jayawishnuwardani (mother of prince
Rajasanagara who later reigned under the name of King Hayam Wuruk), accepts the
oath of allegiance from her grand chief minister Gajah Mada. Gajah Mada accompanied by his ministers and senior generals and admirals also
takes the oath that the assignment to expand the empire of Majapahit to cover
the whole islands of Nusantara (Indonesia) will immediately be executed and before this duty
is completely accomplished he will abstain from eating the Palapa
fruit. The oath of this great empire builder is later
known as the 'Palapa Oath'.
